Snow Leopard build 10A402 seeded to developers
Weighing it at twice the size -- 1.3GB vs 655MB -- of the previous 10A394 build (itself the first major post-WWDC seed update), Snow Leopard 10A402 has been seeded to developers via Software Update from within the beta-stage Mac OS X 10.6. As usual, Apple's seed notes were short on details....but reader & source reports have already begun to reach our inboxes and the early reviews are very positive. Read on for details.

Safari 4 faster, more stable on Snow Leopard than 10.5.x
Although the upcoming 10.5.8 Update will address at least some of these issues, many readers have been reporting a wide range of problems and crashes with Safari 4.0 and 4.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5. Interestingly, despite being incomplete and in need of further debugging itself, OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" has proven considerably better on both the performance and stability fronts with Safari 4.0.

iPhone OS 3.0 New Features
Since the launch of the original iPhone in 2007, users have been demanding various features like copy and paste, MMS, and stereo headphone (A2DP) support for instance. Will new iDevice features (Flash, multitasking) premiere first on Pro devices?
Recently, Rumors was among the first to report on references to an "iPhone 2,1" in last week's v2.2.1 iDevice OS firmware release, and suggest that this was almost certainly the forthcoming iPhone Pro. Now, along with emerging suggestions of a corresponding high-end iPod Touch, the grapevine is abuzz with rumors about background tasking, Adobe Flash and other features which may be tied to the powerful new "Pro" iDevice hardware.

iDevice firmware 2.2.1 released
Apple released version 2.2.1 of its iPhone/iPod Touch operating system firmware today with many under the hood changes & bug fixes but relatively few "front end" changes -- most of them in Mobile Safari. Details follow.

Google Chrome (TestShell) for Mac nightly builds coming along nicely
Recently, the Chrome core engine has been wrapped in a basic user interface, minus nearly all normal user-level functinality and lacks any plug-ins but nonetheless allows adventurous users to enjoy the incredible speed of the V8 Javascript engine.

Latest WebKit nightly build includes built-in update functionality
As of the current nightly build (39852), WebKit -- the developmental version of Safari, available for public testing -- has added the capability to update to the latest build within Webkit.app itself, obviating the need for third party software like NightShift.

Safari 3.2.1 update released
Safari 3.2.1 was released via Software Update overnight, reportedly focusing on bug fixes, but some readers continue to report issues with stability and performance after the update. Stay tuned for an in-depth report on this and ongoing Webkit development shortly.
iPhone Software Update 2.0.2 Released
Late Tuesday evening, Apple released version 2.0.2, a relatively modest update officially containing only bug fixes but unofficially including a number of non-bugfix tweaks to several major components of the onboard operating system as well as its bundled applications in at least three confirmed instances -- Settings, Mail and Safari.

The iPhone SDK, Hackers, and Malware
With the upcoming release of the iPhone SDK, users will be able to run 3rd party applications with Apples blessing. However, much of the hacking necessary to do so without the SDK has already taken place, which may have given malware developers a head start.

WWDC 2010 Preview
