Latest Mac OS X 10.6.3 beta suggests release imminent
A new test build of Mac OS X 10.6.3 has been seeded to developers, with known issues listed as “none.” This typically means that the build is a final test seed and barring major surprises, can be expected to be released in a matter of days.

Snow Leopard build 10A402 seeded to developers
Weighing it at twice the size -- 1.3GB vs 655MB -- of the previous 10A394 build (itself the first major post-WWDC seed update), Snow Leopard 10A402 has been seeded to developers via Software Update from within the beta-stage Mac OS X 10.6. As usual, Apple's seed notes were short on details....but reader & source reports have already begun to reach our inboxes and the early reviews are very positive. Read on for details.

New Snow Leopard seed, 10A394 released via Software Update
Today Apple released Snow Leopard developer seed 10A394 through the Software Update system. This is the first Snow Leopard seed to be released in an "update" form through Software Update rather than as a complete separate build from the Apple Developer Connection website.

Safari 4 faster, more stable on Snow Leopard than 10.5.x
Although the upcoming 10.5.8 Update will address at least some of these issues, many readers have been reporting a wide range of problems and crashes with Safari 4.0 and 4.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5. Interestingly, despite being incomplete and in need of further debugging itself, OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" has proven considerably better on both the performance and stability fronts with Safari 4.0.

WWDC Preview Part 3: iPod Touch, Other iDevices, One More Thing?
With time before today's WWDC Keynote growing short and breaking rumors of Steve Jobs' presence at the Moscone Center sending the grapevine into a frenzy, let's take a quick look at some of the less certain, but no less exciting, possibilities that we might see emerge into the light of day this morning (PDT)/afternoon (EDT) in San Francisco: new iPod Touch model(s), other iDevices ("iTablet"?!), and the ever-present potential for a completely unanticipated "One More Thing" -- potential that has just received a huge injection of probability if the Steve Jobs sightings at Moscone are what they appear to be.

WWDC 2009 Preview Part 2: iPhone OS 3.0 & Snow Leopard
With the WWDC 2009 Keynote event nearly upon us, let's taking a quick look at what we can expect from Apple's next-generation operating systems: iPhone OS 3.0 and Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard". Although we've known for some time now that we'll only see a 'Final Beta' of Snow Leopard this week, expectations for iPhone OS are somewhat less certain. In both cases, we anticipate a few surprises....the real question is how big they'll be.

Multitasking for 3rd-Party Apps?
One of the hottest topics on the grapevine this weekend has been an emerging rumor based on multiple leaks (including more than one of our own sources) regarding the ability of 3rd-party apps being able to run in the background -- rather than just displaying "background notifications" as announced for iPhone OS 3.0 this summer on all supported iDevices. New reports from our sources have shed much more light on this and how it relates to the evolution of iDevice hardware.

Impressive Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard” build 10A335 seeded
Without listing specific changes (partly because many elements of the full Snow Leopard aren't included in developer seeds to date) other than a handful of bug fixes, Apple seeded Mac OS X 10.6 build 10A335 to developers this past week....we have been quite impressed with what we've seen & heard so far.
