According to the official iPhone App Store page for the Facebook app, the long awaited push notification support has been added. As always you will be asked to approve these notifications on the first launch of the app after the upgrade. Notifications for specific events can be turned on or off in the Facebook area of the standard iPhone settings app.
Support has also been included for syncing your Facebook friends with your iPhone contacts, including the ability to use the photos of your Facebook friends as their contact photo. You will be asked for confirmation before any information is shared between your device and Facebook’s service.
