The kindle will fail because it is an ugly bloated POCrap. look at all the buttons on the thing?

the second that thing came out, i thought why didn't amazon contract out apple industrial design to make the device. it didn't even have to be apple branded, but at least it wouldn't be so GD ugly.

People might not read books as much as they watch other medias, but they do read. The kindle could be of greater importance once people realize that these natural resources need to be conserved and that all reading materials should be digitized. I do not think the Kindle will work, primarily because you can have a portable, lightweight computer in combination to the reading component. If Amazon sold its Kindle at prices such as $50. The idea would catch on much quicker. Especially since the Kindle competes with a greater opponent, which is paper

Re: cable cards are 'loopy', they may be, but they sure beat set top boxes as far as I'm concerned. Not only do I not have to look at a pair of cable boxes (one for my hd digital tv, and one for my DVR), but at $.75 each per month (yup - that's 75 cents each),my cable cards are cheaper, too. I suppose I wouldn't need one for the DVR if I just rented the one from Time Warner, but that would be MORE money per month, so I own both of my DVRs (a Sony digital/high def and a Panasonic analog).
